Note: This game is in a prototype stage. Currently, I am running playtests to make sure it’s fun. Please provide feedback on how you enjoyed it!

Welcome to Scoundrel! In this game, you play as a mighty warrior who has set his sights on conquering the depths of the ancient dwarven mines of Abricus.
You start the game with 1 Strength and 20 Health.
Your goal is to clear as many rooms of monsters as possible without dying.
When you kill a monster, you take damage equal to your strength minus the monster’s strength. So, if you were to fight a 3 strength Goblin with your default 1 Strength, you’d take 2 points of damage.
When you don’t think you can delve any deeper without dying, you need to find an exit to escape.
If you encounter a room you’re not sure you can handle, you can press the avoid room button (the first button on the hotbar) to skip it. Starting off, you get 3 uses of this ability.
When you escape the dungeon or die, you’re presented with a score screen. Here’s a breakdown of the score calculation:
Stat | Points Gained |
Monsters Killed | 5 points per monster |
Gold Collected | 15 points per gold piece |
XP Gained | 15 points per experience point earned |
Rooms Cleared | 100 points per room cleared |
Dungeons Cleared | 1000 points per dungeon cleared |
As this game is still a very early prototype, I plan to add a bunch of features that will make the game more fun.
Here’s a list of a few of the planned features:
- Health potions: You’ll enter the dungeon with 3 health potions you can use to heal your player.
- Keys: Exit cards will be completely replaced by keys. You’ll have a rare chance of finding a key as you explore the dungeon. Once you find a key, you can use it to escape from the dungeon whenever it’s getting too dangerous!
- Infinite dungeons: Notice the “dungeons cleared” stat in the score breakdown? Yep! I plan to add the ability to delve into another dungeon when you’ve escaped from the first dungeon.
- Shop: When you escape from a dungeon, you’ll be presented with a shop where you can use gold to purchase things. You can refill your potion slots, restore your health, and restore your uses of the avoid room ability. I also plan to add the ability to buy new equipment, and upgrade your existing equipment.
- Levels: When you get enough XP, your character will “level up”, and you’ll get to unlock new abilities.
